Treating Dry Skin

Penny Ramirez just came home from skiarea and was filling in her friend Evelyn Jackson about the terrible issues she had with dry and cracked skin out in the cold. Evelyn told her that she had the exact same problem at Oriavchyk, Ukraine. An very experienced skiier told her about the three ways to keep your skin in good condition in nasty winter weather. She will use that on her trip to Les Moussi’res, Jura mountain, France in the near future.

Winter is the roughest time on our skin. Many people battle itchy, rough, cracked and painful skin. Flocking out to the boutique to find the most advertised healing lotions and creams to help get rid of the pain and heal the flaking for moments of relief. Unfortunately most victims are passing up on the essential and cheap methods to not only get the help you need for dry, chapped and cracked skin, but also help prevent it.
We as humans are made up mostly of water. For some reason, in the shor, cold months of the year, we don’t think of the need for drinking enough water. During summer, when we are losing fluids through sweat and doing summer sports, we realize that we need to drink water to help replace the same amount of water as we lost. During the winter the frigid air does much the same to our body. It withdraws that fluid right out of our bodies. This then dries out our skin, leaving it flaking and itchy. Making sure that you are still drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water a day will help you win the fight over your dried out and rough skin. Use this one tip for the next two weeks and you will undoubtedly see a definite improvement in your skin in a couple of days.

Staying with the vital necesity of moist skin, a reliable moisturizing cream is also a good idea. Try to get one that fits for your skin type so that you are not going to end up with oily uncomfortable skin. I recommend a cream as opposed to a lotion in the winter, because a cream is thicker and more protective of the skin. You should also spend a moment or so and read the label. The cream or lotion that you use in the summer probably won’t be appropriate in the winter. Find one that does not have any type of alcohol in the first few ingredients, as alcohol will actually dry out your skin.

Make sure to dress with the right clothing in the winter. Before you laugh at this and scratch your head over what clothing has to do with battling dry skin, think about it. The more exposed areas of skin that you have increases the opportunity that the cold has to suck the moisture from your skin. Layer your clothes and let that innermost layer be clothes that are made of cotton. Cotton will let you skin breathe, will keep you warm and won’t irritate your skin.

Try out these three simple steps, you will not only get a big improvement in that really dry skin, an not only that you will help prevent your skin from becoming dry. Drinking plenty of fluids, the right moisturizing cream and appropriate clothing and you will have healthy, well hydrated, comfortable skin.
